Dating its charter back to January 22, 1951, the Rotary Club in Grande Prairie originally met at the York Hotel and established itself with 26 members. The Club has made itself at home in many Grande Prairie spots, moving from Joe’s Coffee Shop (on the corner of 100 and 100, downtown), Golden Star Restaurant, Grande Prairie Inn, and the Quality Inn (now Paradise Inn).
Since our early beginnings, the club has grown immensely, bringing many of the same values and goals to our community by supporting organizations and projects through donations and volunteer services.
Today, the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie meets every Friday at the Delta Hotel. Meetings are hybrid, allowing easier access for current and prospective members, using Zoom. The room opens at 12 p.m. (digitally and physically), with the meeting starting at 12:15 p.m. and lasting about an hour.
The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie is an inclusive non-political, non-denominational service club devoted to local, national, and international projects. We welcome new members who are interested in fellowship and service. If you would like to attend a meeting — either to see a guest speaker or find out if Rotary is right for you — please reach out to us through president@gprotary.com.
Robert Simmons, President
How does one become a Rotarian? By being sponsored through one of our existing members! If you know a Rotarian from our club, contact them directly or use the form below and include their name in the message.
If you have yet to meet one of our Rotarians, we invite you to join us for lunch! Our many friendly members will happily provide more information about the club. Contact president@gprotary.com to join us for lunch at our next Friday meeting.
The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie are proud to support the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, offering students the unique opportunity to experience new cultures, broaden their horizons, and build lifelong global connections.
Through this program, local students can study abroad, while students from other countries immerse themselves in our community. By fostering cultural understanding and personal growth, the Rotary Youth Exchange helps shape tomorrow’s leaders, promoting peace and goodwill across borders. Join us in creating a more connected and compassionate world through the power of international exchange.
Donate, request funding, attend a meeting — however, you want to work together, give us a call and let’s see what we can do!
The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie has strong ties to Rotary in the Peace Region, sponsoring many clubs over the years:

Rotary serves Grande Prairie and surrounding communities in many ways, including through hands-on projects, funding, and leadership. In addition to our various fundraisers and projects, our Club has allocated over $100,000 in “Small Donations” for local groups that apply to our Club for funding.
