Sunrise

The Most Fun on a Tuesday Morning

The Sunrise Rotary Club is a close-knit, light-hearted bunch who get things done — and what better time to do it than first thing in the morning?

Since becoming chartered in 2001, the Sunrise Rotary Club has continuously sought out projects with causes that all members believe in. This alignment has created an engaged club that becomes involved in local, impactful projects in the Grande Prairie area.

Sunrise meets every Tuesday at the Holiday Inn. The room opens at 6:30 a.m., with the meeting starting at 7:15 a.m. and running for 45 minutes, ensuring you can jump back into the rest of your day.

President Statement

Sunrise Rotary Club is a robust, passionate group of people who care about each other, the community, and the world. This is clear through the many initiatives and projects it supports with a small membership of under 40 members. It has been a pleasure working with Sunrise Rotary; I look forward to helping the club find clarity and focus for the coming years.

Exchange Students

The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie are proud to support the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, offering students the unique opportunity to experience new cultures, broaden their horizons, and build lifelong global connections.

Through this program, local students can study abroad, while students from other countries immerse themselves in our community. By fostering cultural understanding and personal growth, the Rotary Youth Exchange helps shape tomorrow’s leaders, promoting peace and goodwill across borders. Join us in creating a more connected and compassionate world through the power of international exchange.

Giving Back

The Sunrise Rotary Club works to hold effective and successful events that raise funds and connect communities. Many fundraised dollars have gone to the building of the Wellness Centre, providing affordable and caring accommodations for patients and their families receiving medical care in Grande Prairie. We also partner with the Salvation Army annually for Christmas Kettles, continuing the campaign’s ongoing success.

Sunrise also supports many youth-focused initiatives. The club is a regular sponsor of the Sunrise Youth Shelter, which provides emergency shelter to youth who have become or are at risk of becoming homeless. Sunrise Rotary Club also has a close relationship with the Sea Cadets, partnering on fundraisers to support programming for their organization.

We’re proud to work closely with two Interact Clubs in Grande Prairie — Grande Prairie Composite High School and Charles Spencer High School — whose members are always encouraged to attend Sunrise meetings and keep their love of Rotary growing.
